Coronavirus Updates

GOLD’S GYM
TEMPORARY CLOSURE

March 18 to March 31, 2020

Dear Valued Members of Gold’s Gym B.C.,

Gold’s Gym has been the authority in fitness since 1965, and we will continue to put the health and wellness needs of our communities at the forefront of our priorities. In that regard, we were one of the first in the industry to address the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) issue in January, and since then, we have substantially increased our cleaning efforts.

However, despite these efforts, Canada’s public health authorities have strongly recommended social distancing and explained the risks associated with crowds; therefore, it is with heavy hearts that we announce our Gold’s Gym B.C. locations in Langley, West Broadway, UMP, and Port Coquitlam will be temporarily closed effective Wednesday, March 18th until March 31st. We anticipate we will be able to reopen all of our facilities on Wednesday, April 1st, but this reopening date will be based on the state of the virus and the updates and information we receive from health authorities. 

We are electing to do whatever it takes to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of the virus, much like many of the other businesses within our communities and across our country. Our demographics greatly range in ethnicity and age, and in order to protect the health and well-being of the most susceptible and most vulnerable, we know this is the right decision for all of us to make.

We have had an overwhelming number of our members express their support as well as their concerns. We know that fitness and exercise are vital to everyone, so we have tasked ourselves with creating and organizing the launch of Gold’s Fitness Online and Gold’s AMP where our members can access an online database of individual, group, and cardio workouts from our website. We are working diligently to deliver this content to you. We will have further updates later this week to keep everyone informed.

The health and well-being of our community will also include our incredible staff: the group of people that work hard every day to provide the best experience of any fitness facility. We understand that this is also a difficult time for many of them, so we will make sure that they have open communication lines for support from us and we will be doing our best to help reduce the financial stress associated with this closure. 

In addition, we will be suspending all members’ dues payments during these 2 weeks. Our payment processing partner, ABC Financial, will take three (3) business days to process the holds on all membership accounts, so if you do see a charge processed after March 17th, the charge will be reversed and credited back to the method of payment that we have on file for your membership account. The expiry dates for all memberships will be adjusted for the duration of the temporary closure so this will prevent the loss of any membership duration for members who have pre-paid their memberships in full.

KIDS CLUB CLOSURE

March 16, 2020
Dear Valued Members,

As an additional protective measure for our members and their families, Kids Club will be closed on Tuesday, March 17th for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all of its contents. We take the health and wellness of all of our members – regardless of age – very seriously, and we want to prevent any threat of potential spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Further details about our Kids Club and facilities will be announced as information arises from Canada’s public health authorities, and we will continue to be transparent about the decisions we make as a company and how they will impact our members.

MEMBER UPDATE
CORONAVIRUS
GGX CLASSES SUSPENDED
MARCH 13, 2020

Dear Valued Gold’s Gym B.C. Member,

To further ensure the safety and well-being of all of our members, staff, and community due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, all of Gold’s Gym B.C.’s locations will be temporarily suspending our group fitness classes from March 16th to March 22nd so we can thoroughly clean and disinfect our Group Exercise studios and equipment within those studios. We are being pro-active, taking the necessary precautionary measures to protect and provide you with the safest fitness environment possible. We plan on reopening with full classes on Monday, March 23rd, however we will continue to diligently monitor the situation and provide further updates so you stay well informed.

MEMBER UPDATE
Coronavirus
March 11, 2020

Dear Valued Member,

We are contacting you today to provide information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak around North America and what we at Gold’s Gym B.C. are doing in response in addition to our initial notice sent out in January.

As a valued Gold’s Gym member, your safety and security in being able to experience a healthier lifestyle have always been, and remains, our top priorities. We were proactive in our announcements about the virus when we first heard about it, and we have adjusted our operational expectations that include increasing facility cleaning frequency by both our team members and our professional cleaning services that we contract and a significant increase in our sanitary and hygienic supply orders.

What is available to you:

• Our management team is present every day during higher volume operating hours in addition to our cleaning services company to sanitize and disinfect our facilities, with primary focuses being workout equipment, studio floors and mats, common area surfaces, door handles and washrooms. Note: We use environment friendly ECOPure products that are incredibly effective at killing bacteria and sanitizing all surfaces.
• Hand sanitizer dispensers available throughout the facility.
• A fully stocked washroom with antibacterial soap.

We ask that you assist us with our continuous efforts by:

• Using the hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the facility.
• Washing your hands before and after your workout and any bathroom breaks (minimum of 20 seconds).
• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible.
• Covering your cough or sneeze with your sleeve when applicable or a tissue, then throwing tissue in trash.
• Staying home if you are not feeling well.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in BC and will
